Beta Chi Theta National Fraternity was established on June 2, 1999 at the University of California, Los Angeles. Currently, Beta Chi Theta has expanded to house 26 chapters and over 1,500 brothers in 17-year history. As the organization looks towards the future development of operations and the need to provide more educational and leadership opportunities for its members, the decision was made to establish the Beta Chi Theta Education Foundation.

The Beta Chi Theta Education Foundation was created/filed for on August 26, 2015 and received its 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS on October 14, 2015.

The purpose of the Beta Chi Theta Education Foundation will be to provide Beta Chi Theta members with educational resources that are in line with the founding values and principles of the fraternity, scholarships to help students be active members in the fraternity and provide leadership development opportunities for members on their campuses and at regional and national fraternity events.

Beta Chi Theta Education Foundation’s leadership team will consist of Executive Director Jay Bhimani – Bhimani led the transition team that was crucial to the establishment of the foundation. He has served various leadership positions within the fraternity and has been recognized at both a chapter and national for his contributions. Samarth Patel will serve as Director of Strategic Initiatives, he is currently a Financial Analyst at Pratt & Whitney, based in East Hartford, CT. Pathik Patel will assume the role Director of Finance, having recently served on Beta Chi Theta’s National Board as Vice President of Financial Affairs, and is currently an Investment Operations Associate at Arrowstreet Capital in Boston, MA.

The Board of Directors will be chaired by Vivek Surti, former National President of Beta Chi Theta National Fraternity, who brings over a decade of fraternal leadership and valuable fundraising experience to the Foundation. Surti also sits on the Board of Trustees for Beta Chi Theta National Fraternity. Vinay Kohli, a former Vice President on the National Board of Beta Chi Theta National Fraternity as well as a Founding Father of Eta Chapter at The University of Texas-Austin, brings both organizational history as well as valuable legal and financial counsel to the Foundation, having received his CPA license and as a lawyer at the law firm of Miller Barondess, LLP based out of Los Angeles, CA.

“We’re very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish over the past year” says Bhimani. “Our team has worked exceptionally hard to create an organization whose mission closely aligns with the academic and leadership goals of the brothers it serves.”
